The Old Rectory has stood for over 500 years, though it was “modernised” in 1812 by the great-grandson of Sir Christopher Wren who lived in the house for 40 years. The site itself is steeped in history; the Doomsday Book listed a building here, and along one boundary of the grounds runs the original Roman built Icknield Street.
